Partiels displaying the analyses of a sound

Partiels

A free and open-source software suite for analysing and exploring the content and characteristics of sounds, for signal processing researchers, musicologists, composers, sound designers...

Latest version: 2.6.0, released on 1 October 2026 (release notes)

Partiels allows analysis of one or several audio files using Vamp plugins, loading data files, visualizing, editing, organizing, and exporting the results as images or text files that can be used in other applications such as Max, Pure Data, Open Music, etc.

Analyse

Analyse one or several multichannel audio files in many formats with Vamp plugins: FFT, LPC, transients, fundamental frequency, formants, tempo, speech-to-text and many more.

Visualise and edit

Display the results as spectrograms, lines and markers, organise them in groups, and edit them graphically or in tables (copy, cut, paste, duplicate…).

Export and load

Export the results to PNG, JPEG, CSV, LAB, JSON, CUE, REAPER, MAX and PUREDATA formats, and load results from the same text formats.

Automate

Apply the same analyses to many files with batch processing, use the command line interface, control Partiels via OSC, and script documents with PartielsPy.

Alongside Partiels, a wide range of analyses based on audio engines developed at IRCAM and outside are ported to Vamp plugins: SuperVP, Pm2, IrcamBeat, IrcamDescriptor, Whisper, Crepe, and more. You can also use the large number of analysis plugins available on the Vamp plugins website.
