Vamp Plugins

Partiels uses the Vamp plugin technology, an audio processing plugin system developed at the Centre for Digital Music, Queen Mary, University of London, to extract descriptive information from audio data.

Alongside Partiels, a wide range of analyses based on audio engines developed at IRCAM and elsewhere are ported to Vamp plugins.

You can also install only the plugins you need:

SuperVP

Analysis of the audio signal with the SuperVP engine (spectrogram, fundamental frequency and partials) by Axel Roebel and Frédéric Cornu, based on an initial version by Philippe Depalle.

Analyses: Fast Fourier Transform, Linear Predictive Coding, True Envelope, Reassigned Spectrum, Cepstrum, Feature Scoring, Primes Matching, Pitched Percussion, Voiced/Unvoiced, Formant LPC, Formant CED, Peak, Mask, Rd Shape, Transient Detection, Spectral Difference Positive, Spectral Difference Negative

IrcamBeat

Beat and tempo detection and tracking based on the IrcamBeat library by Geoffroy Peeters and Frédéric Cornu.

Analyses: Beat Detection, Mean Tempo Estimate

IrcamDescriptor

Extraction of the spectral and temporal audio descriptors based on the IrcamDescriptor library by Geoffroy Peeters and Frédéric Cornu.

Analyses: Perceptual Descriptor, Spectral Descriptor

Pm2

Analysis and tracking of the harmonic and inharmonic partials of the audio signal with the SuperVP engine by Axel Roebel and Frédéric Cornu, based on an initial version by Philippe Depalle.

Analyses: Harmonic Partial, Inharmonic Partial, Chord Partial

Fcn

Monophonic pitch (F0) estimation of speech signals with deep learning models by Luc Ardaillon and Axel Roebel.

Analyses: FCN

VAX

Voice alignment based on the VAX (voice aligner) library by Guillaume Doras, Yann Teytaut and Axel Roebel.

Analyses: VAX - Aligner, VAX - Probability

Whisper

Speech recognition generating markers for the words and the syllables of the audio stream with the OpenAI Whisper models.

Analyses: Whisper

Crepe

Monophonic pitch tracking based on the CREPE deep convolutional neural network by Jong Wook Kim, Justin Salamon, Peter Li and Juan Pablo Bello.

Analyses: Crepe

IPT

Recognition of the instrumental playing techniques with deep learning CNN models by Nicolas Brochec, Joakim Borg and Marco Fiorini.

Analyses: IPT

The installers copy the plugins to the default Vamp folder of your system, where Partiels finds them at startup:

  • macOS: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Vamp. Plugins that require a more recent version of macOS or an Apple Silicon processor are only offered when they are compatible with your Mac.
  • Windows: C:\Program Files\Vamp Plugins. The plugins can be uninstalled individually from the Windows settings.
  • Linux: $HOME/vamp. Run the Install.sh script of the archive (with the --all option to install all the plugins), and the Uninstall.sh script to remove them.

You can change the folders in which Partiels looks for plugins in the plugins settings.

Many other analysis plugins are listed on the Vamp plugins website. The plugins available on internet are also listed in the new track panel of Partiels, with a link to download them.
